Shinjuku Piccadilly, operated by Shochiku Multiplex Theatres, will screen film HAPPYEND by Neo Sora with English subtitles from October 25th, 2024.

The film which made its world premiere in the Orizzonti Competition section at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, is the first fiction feature film of director Neo Sora (Ryuichi Sakamoto | Opus). It hasHAPPYEND has been to festivals including Toronto, New York, Pingyao, Busan , London with rave reviews, and will be screened at upcoming festivals in London, Vienna, and more. also secured distribution in 13 countries and regions.
Though the story is set in Japan, its themes of shifting friendships and dealing with an unstable society have resonated with audiences worldwide. (Runtime: 113mins)

[Story]
Yuta and Ko have been childhood friends and inseparable ever since they were little. They spend their days with their usual group of friends, enjoying music and getting into harmless mischief. One night, just before their high school graduation, the two sneak into the school and pull off a major prank. The next day, when the furious principal discovers it, he takes drastic measures by installing an AI system to monitor students 24/7.
This incident prompts Ko to start questioning his identity and feeling increasingly out of sync with society, something that has been building up inside him for a while. On the other hand, Yuta wants to keep things the way they’ve always been, enjoying fun times with their friends. As their perspectives drift apart, the once close bond between them begins to crack...
